One of our favorite Groton projects is a landscape we completed on Worthen Drive, overlooking the same granite hills that ultimately shaped the land — and supplied the stone.

The design and construction included:

  • Large-format granite flagstone patios set into the natural grade

  • Live-edge granite steps that follow the slope and feel carved from the hillside

  • A custom, hand-sculpted granite retaining wall that stabilizes and defines the space

  • Large, mature plantings layered into the stonework to create an immediate sense of age and permanence

The stone used throughout the project was locally sourced from the very hills the property looks out over — a rare and meaningful connection between material and place.

The result is a landscape that feels rooted, settled, and inseparable from its surroundings — not built on the land, but shaped from it.
