Our combined 43 years of experience allows us to predict and plan around issues that others may not see coming. All this without the unnecessary costs and delays associated with observatory landscape architects or designers and their subpar contractors charging you for their time. This provides a seamless experience from the initial handshake to walking you through your beautiful new landscape with the confidence that it was built right and built to last, by true artisans!

Our Story
Corey began his journey in the green industry at its roots. Working and learning from many skilled tradesmen he began to search for creative freedom in his work.
Roots & Rocks (formerly Lawn & Leaf) was founded in 2008 by Corey Magliozzi with a small pickup truck, commercial lawn mower, and a few masonry tools. With a passion for the outdoors and an interest in creating unique outdoor spaces, business continued to grow and services expanded.
Dan had an extensive background in the landscape field, building his resume as a landscape foreman with a few local companies. Knowing he wanted to broaden his horizons, Dan attended what was the Landscape Institute of the Arnold Arboretum at Harvard University for landscape design.
Freelancing as a designer, Dan started gaining notoriety in the area for his unique style and had done many landscape designs for well respected builders in the area. Realizing he would create more impressive landscapes by eliminating the disconnect that occurs between the designer and subcontractors, as well as missing the work outside, he started to form a design and build business over that winter...
One winter day on the ski slopes, Dan and Corey were discussing work and life. Then it hit them, realizing they were on the same “trail”, they decided to make both companies even stronger by joining forces in 2011, creating what was Lawn & Leaf Landscape Artisans.
As our business has evolved over ten seasons of creating award winning landscape designs, we realized the Lawn & Leaf moniker was a bit misleading. As the majority of our projects are creating custom landscapes, with an emphasis on the harmonious blending of hardscape and planting designs, we realized our name did not truly describe what we do. We were also at a crossroads of a growing business that was transitioning into a corporate entity…
